The National Institutes of Health is claiming that a “ban on fast-food advertising to children would cut the national obesity rate by as much as 18%.” EIGHTEEN PERCENT. Yeah, I think this needs to happen. But will cereal/candy/junk food companies comply?

This hasn't happen to me... but I saw an ex-boss discriminate against hiring a woman who had, um, "a traditional build," as Alexander McCall Smith would put it. I was present for the job interview, and somehow for this candidate -- and for none of the other candidates -- the job interview turned into a multi-floor affair, where my boss dashed between her first-floor office, the second-floor staff room and the third floor treatment rooms at a frenetic pace, repeating things like "you have to be able to run around a lot in this job," and making other not-so-innocent comments about the need for healthy employees.

I was ashamed of my boss. I quit soon after.
