I feel like I have to weigh in on the Michael Pollan "Out of the Kitchen, on to the Couch" piece. Frankly, I don't see what he sees. I see zillions of food blogs written by people all over the USA (and dozens of new ones starting every day) where people embrace cooking--the real kind of cooking, not heating up soup in a microwave.

I think we're experiencing, right now, a renaissance of *exactly* what Pollan claims is a dying art, and movies like Julie & Julia, as well as the outpouring of affection upon the passing of Julia Child a few years ago, are a reflection of that.
