A Return! And a Temporary Break.

Readers! Hey there! How are you? I’ve been away for a few days, alternately babysitting and proving myself to be totally florally ignorant. (Remember: life is easy. Wedding flowers are hard.)

Beyond that, the last week or so has been chock full of deep, thoughtful, uh … thinking … about CHG. I find myself lacking employment lately, and kind of need to concentrate on the job search for a little while.

So. I think we’re going to put the blog on hiatus for a bit, just to regroup and get our collective mojo back. (Note: not this mojo. This mojo. Though the former is nice, too.) There’ll still be occasional posts, especially if there’s a light, inexpensive recipe that screams to be shared. And I expect we’ll be back eventually, but mostly, it’s gonna be slow going for a few weeks.

In the meantime, thank you guys immensely for your continued support and thoughtful comments. It’s been wonderful reading your opinions and learning from your cooking experiences for the last two-and-a-half years, and I look forward to doing it again when a job (and, uh, health insurance) has been procured.

Until next time, yay! And this. Because ... you'll see.

Enjoy the hiatus. I think there's a funk going around in blogland; I know many who are taking a break and feeling less than motivated. Including myself.

Wow, I so totally only subscribed to your blog yesterday.
I've never been known for great timing...

I feel ya. I started my blog(s) about two years ago as well and have recently hit the wall. Not sure what's going on, but I hope you find your mojo 'cause I really like reading you guys.

Nooo! I just discovered you two weeks ago! Guess I'll have to completely scour your archives to fill my cheap/healthy/good needs!

BTW, had your shredded zucchini with chickpeas over polenta this week, and it totally rocked my world.

Nooooooooooooo! "How do I live without you..." Ahem, excuse me. I mean, "Oh, cool." I guess this is a really good reason to start back on my blog instead of just stalking yours. Good luck!

I'm sad, but I definitely understand the need for a break. Especially with other things on your mind right now! I'm crossing my fingers that you find your mojo, and until then I'll just have to work my way through the recipe archive!

Enjoy your break! I've loved reading your blog, (both for the recipes and the laughs) and will keep checking in. But, my motto is life is LIFE, and a blog is just a blog.

There is so much goodness jam packed into your glorious site that I can happily survive on the archives.

I do hope to see posts turn up from time to time... you're the only food blog among all the art blogs I subscribe to! Cheers, and good luck!

I completely understand your ennui- I myself have been hard pressed to get motivated these days. Enjoy the wedding planning and pick somewhere you know you'll love for the honeymoon! After all the planing you'll just want to relax!!

We all need a break once in a while! Make the most of yours and we'll look forward to hearing from you again when you're refreshed and rested! :)

Thanks, you guys. I really appreciate the nice words. Y'all are wonderful.

I'll echo the sentiments. Just discovered this blog 2 weeks ago, but I'll cope by scavenging your previous installments. :)

Take care and enjoy your break!

Oh man- I'm super bummed. I really hope your mojo comes back quickly. I think this is one of the best-written blogs out there. Every Tuesday night for at least a year now, I've looked forward to dinnertime- I grab my plate, sit on the couch next to my husband and let him watch the Simpsons or something while I read Tuesday Megalinks. It's gotten to the point where my husband will jokingly wake me up on Tuesday mornings saying "It's Tuesday Megalinks day!"

Just thought I'd add to the chorus of bummed out readers- I hope that your break is restful and mojo-inspiring, and that you do come back.

Sigh... sad to hear this- I'm pretty sure yours is one of the top five blogs in my reader (as in, when a new post comes in, I drop everything to read it. For the record, you're in the company of Smitten Kitchen and Orangette in those ranks). DEFINITELY take the time to enjoy it, but I too will miss the Tuesday megalinks. I swear, I've become at least a more intelligent SOUNDING person because of those (most recently, the farmer's response to Michael Pollan was SUCH food for thought... pun intended). Anyways, adore your writing and happy to see you're still posting deliciousness on Serious Eats.

Oh Kris! I hope making kids' meals (read: mac-n-cheese) for days on end didn't ruin your CHG karma! Get some rest and let me know if you're looking for some south asian or colombian mojo (read: food). I look forward to seeing you this weekend - your dad's burgers just aren't the same without your tutelage.
